Kamasi Washington lands in Liverpool tonight, Getintothis reports on a last minute venue change and stellar support.
Acclaimed jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington plays Liverpool tonight – however, the gig has been swapped from the O2 Academy to the Arts Club.
As well as the venue change, new support has been revealed in the shape of twice nominated GIT Award rising star Xam Volo who’s on stage at 8pm.
Having played alongside Run The Jewels, labelmate Thundercat and most notably on Kendrick Lamar‘s To Pimp a Butterfly, Washington released his groundbreaking solo album The Epic in 2015.
The album was a 172-minute, triple-disc masterpiece, featuring Washington‘s incredible ten-piece band The Next Step, along with a full string orchestra and choir.

The album not only debuted at number one on jazz charts throughout the world, but was accalimed by critics, making many end of year lists, including Getintothis’.
His live shows are equally acclaimed, transcendent experiences, and with only two UK dates currently announced, it looks like live appearances might be a rarity in 2017. So missing out would be foolish.
Kamasi Washington UK dates:
June 30: O2 Academy, Liverpool
July 1: O2 Academy, Leeds
