With Liverpool Music Week coursing through our bloodstream this week, Liverpool has become a city blooming with musical talent like no other.

We know sometimes it can be a little daunting, with new venues springing up here and there, not to mention the odd random free gig dropping out of the sky. So why not let us aid you in your hour of need.

Here you will find all the must see goings on for the week ahead, plus a few shindigs to keep an eye on later down the line. We are always on the look out for new writers too, so feel free to drop us a line and tell your mates to get involved too!

Augustines: O2 Academy, October 31

Fresh from headlining Dot to Dot Festival earlier this summer, Augustines return to Liverpool later this year, when they make a stop at the O2 Academy this week.

With this the final date of the Brooklyn trios last ever tour, they will be making sure they go out with a bang.

WSTR: O2 Academy, October 31

With their debut long player Red, Green or Inbetween set to drop at the start of the new year, WSTR are set to head home this Monday as they hit up the O2 Academy.

The pop punk five piece are causing tidal size waves in the scene and are sure to make this homecoming one not to forget in a hurry.

The Mono LPs: Buyers Club, November 3

This Thursday the Buyers Club will play host to one of the most distinctive sounds around the Mersey scene when The Mono LPs head to the Hardman Street venue to launch their debut album, States of Decay.

Their string twisted post rock cuts are magnatising to the ear and with Salta Mai, Katie Mac and Jo Mary tagging along for the ride, this is a stellar bill of local delights.

Celebration of Life: Philharmonic Hall, November 3

Ahead of World Aids Day, a plethora of Liverpool’s finest acts come together at the Philharmonic Hall this Thursday for a Celebration of Life, which aims to generate support for HIV charity Sahir House.

Following the success of last years event, this year’s bill will see Tommy Scott and Phil Hartley from Space join, The La’s Paul Hemmings, Satin Beige, Martin Smith, Mersey Wylie all combine for the Homotopia event.

High Tyde: Arts Club, November 4

The infectious sounds of Brighton quartet High Tyde make a much anticipated stop off at the Arts Club later this week, as they come to town on Friday having released their latest EP Safe earlier in the year.

Having proved one of the highlights for many at this years Great Escape festival, the group are not resting on their laurels and with The Basement Effect on support, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one be a full house.

Cabbage: The Magnet, November 4

Mancunian upstarts Cabbage want to get inside people’s heads and scrape their feet on the way out and are sure to do just that when they hit The Magnet this Friday.

Half mod grooves and an attitude to match, this night is gonna have a real kick to it as Psycho Comedy and FUSS join the carnage.

Treehouse of Horrors: Constellations, November 4

This Friday, the Baltic Triangle will play host to the Treehouse of Horrors as a collection of artists come together to share their love for The Simpsons.

Following the exceptional No Homers Club exhibition, this will prove a highly popular date in many peoples diaries, with Ohmns and Organ Freeman set to bring animated music to match the surroundings at Constellations.

Bicep: Invisible Wind Factory, November 5

On Saturday, Bicep become the latest stellar dance unit set to greet the Invisible Wind Factory with their presence.

It may well be Bonfire night, but this is where the fireworks are truly going to be this weekend, as Or:la and Blehrin join the party.

 Carwyn Ellis: 24 Kitchen Street: November 30

From collaborating with Edwyn Collins to being nominated for the Welsh Music Prize, Carwyn Ellis is one of the finest musical talents to have surfaced form the Welsh musical landscape in modern times.

Next month, he will grace Liverpool with his presence as he makes a rare solo outing at 24 Kitchen Street for the latest Violette Societa. With The Wicked Whispers, Nathan O’Hagan and Mick Roach also playing, this is an early Baltic winter highlight.

The Night Cafe: Arts Club: December 3

The meteoric rise of The Night Cafe shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon, with the announcement of the four piece’s debut UK headline tour set to kick off in the Arts Club later this year.

Following the release of their latest single Mixed Signals, the quartet are gearing up to released their new EP early in the new year. The pop soaked cut is another example of why the nation is now starting to take notice of one of Liverpool’s most promising groups.
