As the Irish singer-songwriter eyes a return to Liverpool, Getintothis‘ David Hall looks ahead to an autumnal evening at Leaf.
Irish singer songwriter Wallis Bird is known for her hard- touring and lengthy UK jaunts as much as she is for her folky, poppish material. With 56 dates covering the UK, Ireland, Australia, Japan and Europe currently scheduled, she returns to Merseyside on November 16, less than two years after her previous visit.
Bird revisits the scene of her previous Liverpool date, hoping to conjure the same hushed, intimate atmosphere in the bohemian Bold Street surroundings.
The often-lush arrangements of her studio work are usually stripped back to an open-tuned acoustic guitar and Bird‘s raspy, soulful voice for her live dates.
Debuting in 2007 with the critically-acclaimed acoustic folk of Spoons, Bird has lately moved in a more electronically-informed direction. Beginning with her last album Architect, the trend seems to have continued on the dramatic, depthy material of her latest release.
A new UK tour comes off the back of newly-birthed fifth album Home, which saw its release on September 30.
Wallis Bird plays Leaf Tea Shop on Wednesday, November 16.
