The Arts Club, Liverpool
Academy Music Group – owner of O2 branded venues nationwide – completes a purchase of Liverpool’s Arts Club, as Getintothis’ Amaan Khan reports.
Formerly known as Barfly and in recent times East Village Arts Club following an extensive refurbishment, the Seel Street hotspot re-opened its city centre doors under the Arts Club banner in 2013. Boasting memorable nights from acts such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dinosaur Jr. and Foals, the Arts Club is certainly a venue rich in heritage.
Academy Music Group (AMG), with its ownership of Manchester’s Ritz and other O2-branded venues around the country, is a company who hold a rightful claim as the “UK’s leading owner and operator of live music and club venues”.

The Arts Club purchase sees AMG‘s stake in Liverpool live music increase further, overseeing management of the resurgent Liverpool Guild of Students and with O2 Academy already under its wing. Arts Club joins a nationwide list of AMG outlets ranging from Glasgow to Bournemouth.
The Arts Club welcomes Scottish alt-rockers Twin Atlantic (Saturday, July 9) and One Little Indian Records‘ Jesse Malin (Monday, July 11), Laura Oakes (July 14) and Liverpool veterans Space (July 15) in the coming weeks.
