Let’s Eat Grandma

Fantastical Norwich duo Let’s Eat Grandma prove arresting with their mystical musical maelstrom, Getintothis’ Ryan Craig enters their mesmerising realm.

Kaleidoscopic pop duo, Let’s Eat Grandma, consists of the virtually indistinguishable Jenny Hollingworth and Rosa Walton, who are gaining an audience with their dream like melodies and mysterious undertones.

As like-minded as twins, the two multi-instrumentalists met aged four in their infant school in Norwich and have been inseparable ever since. Now both aged 17, some might underestimate what they’re capable of – and they know it. Like their band name – which was taken from the old grammatical joke which highlights the usefulness of well-placed commas – they are setting out to test everyone else’s preconception.

Their debut album I, Gemini, released June 17 via Transgressive, follows on from today’s release of their latest video Eat Shiitake Mushrooms (watch below) following on from Sink which dropped in March.

Shot in Wrongs Covert, an ancient woodland site in their hometown of Norwich, the eerie setting of the video will give you a glimpse into the duo’s weird and wonderful world. The track, a reminder that not everything must conform to just one genre, includes its very own rap breakdown mixed with the use of a synth, organ and of course, a glockenspiel.

The blend of cute vocals and child-like lyrics create a soft, almost hypnotic tone that leaves you feeling mesmerized.

With the dynamic duo playing in the upcoming Latitude Festival, in Suffolk and Blue Dot Festival, in Macclesfield, no doubt Let’s Eat Grandma will be a name we hear a lot more of. Which is a very good thing indeed.
