VEYU return with a new propulsive track ahead of live date with assorted Merseyside artists, Getintothis’ Peter Guy suggests a special night is on the cards.
VEYU‘s return to Merseyside’s new music top table is gathering pace with a new track aired today and live date in the offing.
New track Battlecry, like previous proposition Everytime, has long been in the band’s live set, now the studio fruits have been unveiled and tie in with their first Merseyside live date of 2016.
Relaunching their I/O events, the audio/visual happenings they pioneered in their original Fallout Factory base-camp which drew much attention, this time kicking off in Leaf Tea Shop on April 2.
Adding further substance to the gathering are out-rock experimental lunatics RongoRongo and much-tipped rising electronic pop enigma L U M E N who will feature alongside David Ogle‘s light installation (see below) and Bido Lito! DJs.
Battlecry, premiered by Getintothis below, marries singer Chris Beesley‘s lyrical ire (“The gloves have come off“) with a throbbing visceral bass riff and the band’s characteristic chiming guitars.
“The song is about being sold a lie,” Beesley told Getintothis, “Waking up to that lie and doing something about it – I had politics and religion in mind when I was writing it.”
