Liverpool songwriter Katy Alex beats strong competition to win the 2015 Merseyrail Sound Station, Getintothis’ Peter Guy reports.
Liverpool singer-songwriter Katy Alex is the 2015 Merseyrail Sound Station winner.
The fast-rising pop artist beat the nine other finalists including Getintothis tips The Shipbuilders, Mersey Wylie, Gyrus and Mono Sideboards.
Alex, who was named in Getintothis‘ 2015 Ones To Watch list in January, also saw off fellow finalists Cal Ruddy, Lucy Mayhew, The Basement Effect, Lewis Maxwell and Rossa Murray.
It’s been a busy year for Katy Alex havimg performed at many Liverpool’s key festivals including Sound City, Threshold, LIMF, Astral Coast and opening the second FestEvol at the Kazimier.

The hard-working youngster’s solo project fuses pop-rock and classic soul while she is also vocalist in electronic outfit Halem.
After a busy summer playing at the River Festival she was began studying at LIPA and released her latest track, the stripped-back soulful ballad Light, via her SoundCloud on Thursday – take a listen below.
