Anton Newcombe named Psych Fest 2015 Artist in Residence
Jonestown frontman becomes Psych Fest’s first artist in residence as Hookworms and more join Spiritualized for two-day Camp & Furnace festival. Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia has today announced its next wave of bands for the September festival, which is led by Factory Floor, The Heads and Hookworms. The new wave of artists will be joining the British space-psych pioneers Spiritualized at the two-day, Camp and Furnace event. The organisers have also announced that the Brian Jonestown Massacre‘s Anton Newcombe will be performing at the festival as Psych Fest’s first ever Artist in Residence. It’s a natural fit for both Newcombe and Liverpool’s music community, with the cosmic psychonaut having a particular affinity with the city having lived here, frequented Korova and also recorded music in Liverpool. A full programme of Anton’s activities over the festival weekend will be announced in the coming weeks. Other acts joining the bill are Jacco Gardner, GIT Award 2015 nominee Jane Weaver, K-X-P, Joel Gion, Karen Gwyer, Dengue Fever, Carlton Melton, Indian Jewellery, Lumerians and Black Devil Disco Club, along with a whole host of psychedelic and experimental artists from across the world.

Also announced is the line up for the exclusive collaboration between two of the festival’s most loved labels, Sacred Bones Records from Brooklyn, New York, and BYM Records from Santiago, Chile. The Sacred Bones Records vs BYM Records showcase will feature performances from Blanck Mass, Destruction Unit, The Holydrug Couple, Chicos De Nazca, Vuelveteloca and The Ganjas. Neo-psych imprint Cardinal Fuzz will also make the trip to the Baltic Triangle to present the Cardinal Fuzz Sonic Attack, which will play host to a number of acts from their drone-laden roster. The two-day festival which is held at the Camp and Furnace and Blade Factory in the heart of the Baltic Triangle, will this year see the addition of a new performance space in District. Organisers are also planning a wide expansion of the PZYK Gallery and Village, which were successfully introduced in 2014. Liverpool Psych Fest continues to grow in popularity, and last year’s sell out event was named the Best Small Festival at the NME Awards 2015. Tickets and accommodation packages are available here.
