With the help of Natalie McCool and Silent Cities, artist and designer, Laura Lomax has released the video from her Daydream project and Getintothis’ Steph Niciu has the exclusive.
Liverpool- based Laura Lomax has produced a collaborative project of music, film and performance. The inspiration for the project came when Lomax listened to I Monster‘s Daydream in Blue.
The re-imagined track was produced by Mario Leal through record label voltasix and released on January 19.
To accompany the track, Laura has directed and produced a film noir video in conjunction with IXIOD, also known as James Kirkham, a freelance designer and award-winning filmmaker also based in the city.
The video reflects the song’s haunting atmosphere by using strong theatrical lighting, shadow and lens effects that are reminiscent of work by Henri- Georges Clouzot.
The final element of the project is a showcase event at Tilt on Duke Street on February 28 with Rebel Soul. Silent Cities and Natalie McCool will each perform their Daydream set as well as new material. They will be joined by songstress, LUNA and the venue will be filled with art installations inspired by Eadweard Muybridge, incorporating light manipulation and shadowplay.
Tickets for the showcase event at Tilt on Duke Street will be £5 (advance) and £7 (otd) and will start from 7.30pm. For more information visit Daydream‘s event page.
