Having announced his first ever live UK tour, Getintothis’ Adam Lowerson anticipates James Holden’s forthcoming Kazimier performance.
Electronic producer James Holden is set to bring his live show to the Kazimier on April 30 on his first ever live UK tour. His set, which features live synth and drums, will see Holden accompanied by Tom Page of Rocketnumbernine on drums, where the two musicians will reimagine Holden’s most recent album The Inheritors.
Having made their live debut as a duo in 2013 supporting Thom Yorke’s Atoms for Peace, Holden and Page will grace the UK for the first time, going head to head in an improvised performance, so it’s sure to be an unpredictable night.
Having risen to prominence in 2006 with his debut album The Idiots are Winning, a record which the Guardian described as “The most astonishing debut in electronic music since Boards of Canada’s Music Has The Right To Children”, the Exeter born synth shaman further cemented his name as a major player on the electronic scene with The Inheritors.
His latest recorded effort Circle of Fifths, made up of three parts Tool, Dub and Gibbersolo, comes in the form of a bonus 12” of tracks not featured on The Inheritors, and sees Holden showcasing his trademark experimental electronica. The three tracks come straight from the underground club scene, with driving beats wrapped in warped, hallucinogenic synths, and along with the much lauded album The Inheritors, they’re sure to be a real spectacle in the live setting.
Fans of the electronic scene will be in for a treat on the night of April 30, with the supporting cast coming from some of the most exciting new noisemakers in Liverpool, as well as DJ sets from Mr. Paul and Adele Moss.
Regulars on the Merseyside music scene will no doubt be familiar with the dreamy soundscapes of Andrew Parry’s WYWH, who will warm up onlookers with the ambient electronica that won him plenty of new fans at Liverpool Music Week when supporting Peaking Lights.
Similarly D R O H N E are enjoying a growing reputation with their punishing beats and sinister synthesisers gaining them support slots with some well established names such as SOHN and Factory Floor. The duo seem set for big things, having released their Parasite EP through Tim Burgess’ label O Genesis and they’ll be hooking up for a club set with V E E D, who stunned onlookers with his set at the GIT Award 2015 launch in 24 Kitchen Street back in November.
