Liverpool Sound City reveal first waves of acts including Clean Bandit, Wolf Alice, Jungle and Getintothis one to watch Circa Waves.
Liverpool Sound City‘s first wave of acts include Kodaline, Gruff Rhys, Fuck Buttons and UK number one chart toppers Clean Bandit.
Liverpool Sound City returns for its seventh successive year on 1-3 May 2014 with hundreds of acts set to play in dozens of venues around the city.
The diverse live bill includes Irish pop rock outfit Kodaline, who will headline the iconic Liverpool Anglican Cathedral following in the footsteps of last year’s headliners Noah & the Whale and New York’s The Walkmen.
Also on the bill are Super Furry Animals‘ maverick frontman Gruff Rhys, leftfield dance duo Fuck Buttons, whose track Olympian was chosen by film director Danny Boyle to soundtrack the 2012 London Olympics plus Clean Bandit, whose track Rather Be topped the UK number one singles chart.
Sound City, which champions new and emerging international and UK talent, has also added buzz bands Jungle, Wolf Alice, Darlia, Thumpers and Liverpool’s Circa Waves who have recently been added to NME’s Award Tour calling at the O2 Academy in March.
Earlier this month Getintothis revealed Velvet Underground legend John Cale and Sonic Youth icon Thurston Moore as keynote speakers for the conference at the Hilton Hotel.
David Pichilingi, Sound City CEO, said: “It’s shaping up to be the best Sound City to date.
“We have always strived to bring the best to Liverpool and we have definitely delivered this year on both the live and conference side.”
Among the other names in the first announcement are Big Ups, Courtney Barnett, Girls Names, Loom, LSA, We The Wild, Fair Ohs, We Were Evergreen, Marika Hackman, Traams, Sons & Lovers, Lola Colt, The Minutes and Blaenavon.
The second wave featuring additional headliners will be announced in February with additional conference speakers also to be unveiled.
Three-day festival only wristbands are currently available on the website at the early bird price of £44 until Monday 3 February.
