As another week rolls into the history books, it’s time again for Getintothis’ Max Richardson to round up the highlights of the week here on the site.
Here we are once again, are you bored of this lockdown malarkey yet?
Yes, the UK is gradually beginning to return to normality, and as more businesses begin to open we can get a glimpse of the post-virus world – but let’s not think about that.
This week, much of this writer’s time has been spent listening to albums in full, substantially more than normal.
Albums such as Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet feel particularly relevant right now – and are well worth a listen for those who’ve never ventured into the world of classic hip hop before.
Other records on rotation this week for this writer have included Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue and Steven Wilson’s The Raven That Refused To Sing – both of which are superb records of rich, complex music – best listened to from start to finish.
Stanley Park an oasis that divides the Blue and Red sides of Liverpool
Elsewhere this week, this writer has been catching up with Chasing The Moon, a documentary about the space race up on BBC iPlayer.
If you’ve not seen it, I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone interested in space or politics.
Chasing The Moon focuses on the tense political relationship between the US and the USSR, portrayed alongside the scientific advances that led to the landing on the moon in 1969.
Have you been listening to anything out of the ordinary this week? Started a new series you’re dying to recommend to others? We’d love to hear about ‘em – feel free to let us know in the comments below.
