Tim’s Twitter Listening Parties – a success of the lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic
Tim Burgess has launched a full programme of his popular listening parties, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley has the full schedule, so far.
Tim Burgess of The Charlatans has extended his extensive programme of his popular listening parties as music fans stay bunkered for the foreseeable future.
If you’re late to this particular lockdown party, the premise is simple.
Log on to Twitter, drop the needle or click play on the album at the specified time, and enjoy live tweets from members of the band and fellow fans as the record plays.
What started as a couple of playbacks with the likes of Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs talking through Definitely Maybe, grew to weeks of events and now Burgess has friends on board for parties taking us through the summer.
Tim’s Twitter Listening Party has been one beacon of light for music fans, many of whom are filling the evening void in which gigs often sit.
Burgess has also been inspiration for many other artists taking to live feeds to talk through their albums, take part in Q&As and even some live streamed secret sets.

Sandout parties thus far included Fontaines D.C.‘s Dogrel on Thursday April 16, while The Coral did their playback on Saturday April 18 where listeners enjoyed their self-titled record from 2002.
The prominent dates in the next run of listening parties include the playback of Burgess’ Royal Albert Hall set on Thursday, 3 June.
There’s also playbacks for Prince, Joy Division, Mogwai and Caribou.
Liam Gallagher will celebrate the release of his new album, MTV Unplugged, with a very special Tim’s Twitter Listening Party on Friday, 12 June.
Gallagher will join Bonehead on Twitter discussing the album, giving fans a unique insight into the making of the record.
