Liverpool’s Upitup Records celebrates 10 years of championing independent music with three-day marathon across Merseyside.
Since March 2003 Upitup Records has released more than 50 free albums and organized over 40 events across Liverpool, Rome and Stuttgart specialising in a distinct selection of eclectic electronic music.
Marking their 10th anniversary, Upitup are organizing a three-night weekender on March 21-23, showcasing their varied taste in music with artists from their own label roster and very special guests performing across Merseyside.
Each event will focus on different aspects of live electronic music, with composer Ergo Phizmiz headlining an evening of experimental electronica in Mello Mello featuring his multimedia opera GARGANTUA.
Upitup‘s will curate an evening at the Kazimier headlined by acid techno extraordinaire Ceephax, while the weekend celebrations will be brought to a close with the Upitup Allstars birthday party at Drop The Dumbells.
Thursday March 21’s event at Mello is dubbed an evening of ‘Excessive Entertainment‘ as Phizmiz presents his medieval techno opera, GARGANTUA, based on the cold war and rabelais, with support from The Wyrding Module (paramusician Chris Gladwin from Team Doyobi), rephlex aficionado P.p. Roy, and local artists Chiz Turnross and Kepla.
Friday March 22’s Ten Means Ten at The Kazimier fuses acid and techno as TB303 guru Ceephax, is backed by VHS Head, Datassette, AGT Rave Cru and top local DJ and producers Tony Loco, Oddbwar, Captain Johnson and Acrobat.
Saturday March 23 sees the Upitup All Stars bring the noise to Drop the Dumbells with 14 international acts take to the stage, including Benjamin Jackson, Big Effigy, Büromaschinen, DJ Rosela Comb, Global Goon, Isocore, Jacques Malchance, JFrank, Jonas The PlugExpert, Pierlo, Roglok, The Courier, Tracky Birthday and White Mask.
