Another of 2020’s big hopes show their hand early in the new year, Getintothis’ Steven Doherty has Pottery’s news.
Montreal’s Pottery have announced details of their debut album and first batch of tour dates in the UK this year.
On the back of last year’s much-loved debut EP No.1, they return with a brand new single, the six minutes plus Texas Drums Pt I & II, which is available now.
This is the teaser ahead of their first long-player, the 11-track Welcome To Bobby’s Motel which is released on Partisan Records (home of IDLES and Fontaines DC) on April 10.
They have also released details of their short UK summer tour, following the previously announced, sold-out gig at Brixton Windmill at the end of the month. This run of dates will include a North-West date at YES in Manchester in June.
Welcome To Bobby’s Motel was produced by Parquet Courts producer Jonathan Schenke, and recorded in the band’s home town.
The Bobby of the title, they are keen to stress, is not a real person and the motel is not a real place.
“Beginning as an inside joke between band members, this has grown into much more. In essence, Bobby is Pottery and his motel is wherever they are.
You might spend your entire life looking for Bobby’s motel and just when you think you will never find it, you realise you’ve been there all along. It’s filthy and amazing and you dance, and you love it.”
Tour dates are:
February 26: Brixton, Windmill
June 8: Brighton, Chalk
June 9: Manchester, YES
June 10: Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
June 11: London, Tufnell Park Dome
