Leaf West Kirby will replace The Viking

Leaf to expand with a West Kirby venue offering live music, Getintothis’ Peter Guy on their ever expanding businesses.

Leaf are to expand by opening a new venue in West Kirby on the Wirral.

After 10 years in the heart of Liverpool city centre, boss Natalie Haywood is expanding her portfolio of independent venues to West Kirby and taking over Simon Rimmer‘s The Viking.

The new venue will offer 70+ teas, food as well as an evening programme of craft gins, beers, cocktails and wine.

The venue will also boast a stage with the team promising to bring live music with an acoustic offering.

The move to West Kirby follows the launch of Leaf on Smithdown Road in South Liverpool and marks an exciting next chapter for the family-run business.

Alongside food and drink, LEAF on Smithdown there is already a thriving community with the likes of Naked Lunch CafeThe Handyman PubSmithdown SocialKellys SmithdownCraft Taproom, Evil Eye and more, marking it out as one of the most thriving suburbs in the UK.

Native Harrow at Leaf on Bold Street

Natalie Haywood, founder of Leaf, said: “Our new home in the much-loved Viking site feels wonderful already and we are really excited about working closely with the local community to deliver a distinctive events programme throughout the year.

We will have an acoustic stage downstairs and flexible event space upstairs – it’s perfect for all sorts of occasions and we can’t wait to open the doors.

Leaf on Smithdown opens: first look and exclusive pictures

Leaf began as a small tea shop run by friends in a Liverpool city centre gallery in 2007 and Leaf on Bold Street opened in 2010.

The striking art deco building on Bold Street has lofty, high ceilings and is home to an array of exciting events with the likes of SavagesLapsleySturgill Simpson, VetiverGrant Lee PhilipsBy The Sea MONEYJulia Holter and music festivals Sound City and Music Week all taking place there.

The GIT Award also began life at LEAF on Bold Street with the first event being held there in 2012 and again the following year.

In 2015, Leaf opened a sister venue on Portland Street in Manchester.

Their venues also include Oh Me Oh My, One Fine Day and The Garden by Leaf at FACT.
