Stereolab and Baxter Dury to headline Deer Shed Festival 2020 as Jah Wobble set to play Cavern

Foals and The Streets set for Sounds of The City as The Japanese House release a new single, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley with the week’s breaking news.

Deer Shed Festival has announced Stereolab and Baxter Dury as main stage headliners for it’s 2020 renewal.

The British-French avant-pop band will headline the Friday main stage line-up next July, led by song-writing team Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier.

Fresh from releasing Slumlord earlier this month, from his upcoming album Night Chancers, Baxter Dury joins Stereolab as headliner, topping the main stage bill on Sunday.

They’ll perform alongside the likes of Kate Tempest, who returns to the festival for the first time since headlining the Deer Shed stage in 2017.

Scottish post-punk outfit The Twilight Sad, Sudanese-American musician Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane, and Snapped Ankles in Topcliffe, North Yorkshire.

Artists also announced for 2020 are Roddy Woomble (Lodge Stage headline, Friday), Liz Lawrence, Ren Harvieu, Big Joanie, Melt Yourself Down, Dry Cleaning, Native Harrow, Heidi Talbot & Boo Hewerdine (Telegraph headline, Saturday).

Elsewhere in festival lineups this week, Manchester’s Sounds of The City has announced its acts set to perform in 2020 at Castlefield Bowl.

Foals will play on Wednesday July 1, while other big names include Paul Heaton and Jaqui Abbot (July 4), DMA’S (July 9) and The Streets (July 10).

Also set to play are Crowded HouseLewis CapaldiKaiser Chiefs and the ever-popular Hacienda Classical.

The now annual event, running across two weekends and 8 nights, sees each band play their own headline show at the 8,000 venue.

Off the back of an extremely successful string of UK dates this month, Jake Bugg has UK tour in March, which includes a date in Liverpool.

The Nottingham-born soloist is set to release his fifth studio album next year, which has been led by single Kiss Like The Sun.

Bugg will play Mounford Hall on Friday March 6.

Jah Wobble

Jah Wobble & The Invaders Of The Heart have also announced a UK tour next year, including a date at The Cavern.

The legendary bass player will come to the similarly iconic venue in Liverpool on Thursday January 16.

Our new track this week comes from The Japanese House, who have shared her new single, Chewing Cotton Wool.

It’s the second to be taken from her forthcoming Something Has To Change EP, to be released early next year via Dirty Hit.
