Horace Andy headlined a superb bill for day one of Africa Oyé, Getintothis’ Peter Goodbody was out in the sun for this one.
It must have been the hottest day of the year so far.
And it was by quite a long way the busiest we have seen Sefton Park for Africa Oyé.
This was surely a record crowd.
Clearly the sunshine brought the heads out to the park with their gazebos, BBQs and bottles of Prosecco. But there was a cracking bill on the stage as well.
Liverpool’s own Satin Beige kicked it off followed by Gasper Nali’s home made one stringed bass guitar.
Hip hop from Washington’s Oshun went down a storm, as did returning Haiti act Wesli also get the vibe feeling good.
But it was the combined energy of BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness) and the chill of reggae legend Horace Andy that really sealed the deal.
Up on high
These are moments to cherish, to enjoy and get lost in the groove.
