Seatbelts
Autumn and Halloween are here, but have no fear, so is the live music as Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has all the details.
With the clocks back an hour, autumn is officially in full swing. Feels good, doesn’t it? Waking up for work despite the fact it feels like three in the morning, shivering as you amble down the hallway to the kitchen or the bathroom. Then there’s facing the elements outside…
At least there’s optimism in other facets of life. Football, for instance. Both Red and Blue doing well, one better than the other, of course (sorry, couldn’t resist). Let’s not forget Tranmere, either, who continue to hold their own in League Two.
With that extra hour’s kip in the bank, the batteries should be charged and ready for the week ahead. It’s been a busy time on the Liverpool gig-front recently and while it’s slightly less chaotic this week, there’s still plenty to whet the palate.
Including the small matter of Halloween. Most Halloween celebrations would have taken place over the last couple of nights, however – if it’s your thing – don’t be afraid to get out the Halloween get-up on Wednesday, as there’s plenty going on down at the Baltic Triangle (details below). At the very least, it’s a viable alternative to cowering behind the couch pretending you’re not home simply to evade a bunch of trick or treaters…
If you want to swerve Halloween, well, that’s cool too! Just get out and support your local music venues and the artists playing in them.

Lord Huron
Lord Huron: Invisible Wind Factory, Monday October 29
Posters for this show have been plastered all across the walls of Renshaw Street and on the back of their new album, Vide Noir, the time has come for Lord Huron’s arrival.
A part of the short-lived nu-folk explosion circa 2012, Lord Huron live to tell the story, providing a steady hand to all things folk, rock and Americana. For those that want to be taken on a journey through the 52 states, this one’s for you.

Annabel Allum: Studio 2 Parr Street, Monday October 29
UK singer-songwriter, Annabel Allum, will play the charming Studio 2 on Parr Street. Some may be familiar with her track, Rascal, from her latest EP, Sorry I’m Not Perceptible.
Not included on that EP is new single, Sofa Song, which was released earlier this month. Allum possesses a gnarly ‘90s PJ Harvey vibe, which is sure to pique the interest of many around these parts.
The Blinders
The Blinders: Arts Club, Loft, Monday October 29
After their Sunday session at Jacaranda Phase One last month, Doncaster up-and-comers, The Blinders, return for another sonic assault on the back of their new album, Columbia.

The Buena Vista Social Club
Sambroso All Stars Presents The Buena Vista: 24 Kitchen Street, Tuesday October 30
London’s Sambroso Noda has cobbled together a seven-piece group of Cuban musicians to reinterpret tracks from the Grammy award winning album, Buena Vista Social Club.
World music aficionados will be all over this like a rash. Equally, for those who like a dance (and a drink!), add a bit of spice to your Tuesday and get down to 24 Kitchen Street for this.
Seatbelts
Seatbelts, Brick House, Flizz, Samurai Kip: Handyman, Thursday November 1
This looks to be the gig to get you in the mood for the weekend. New band, Seatbelts (members of Hooton Tennis Club) have just released a new EP, Songs for Vonnegut, and it sounds decent. Any reference to Kurt can’t not sound awesome, right? Along with Seatbelts, there’s Merseyside acts, Brick House, Flizz, and Samurai Kip.
There’s a bit here for all walks of life, so start your weekend early and get yourself down to Smithdown Road for this.
Ladytron
Ladytron: O2 Academy, Saturday November 3
Electro-pop pioneers, Ladytron, return home and will no doubt be met with infinite adulation from the Liverpool faithful. Support will come from locals favourites, too, in Stealing Sheep and HAARM.
Ladyton‘s forthcoming self-titled album will be released early next year. No doubt you will be treated to some new cuts along with a slew of old dance-y electro-pop favourites to get all nostalgic about. It’s Ma Egerton’s around the corner for a cheeky pint, then get your dancing shoes on, people. Gig of the week right here.

Kacey Musgraves: Philharmonic Hall, Saturday November 3
If shaking your arse to Ladytron’s beats isn’t your thing, then Kacey Musgraves may just be a viable alternative.
With the critically acclaimed Golden Hour being released earlier this year, the Philharmonic may just be the perfect environment to see Musgraves perform her country-pop ditties.
