Ahead of their Sound City set at Baltic Market this Sunday, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley speaks to False Heads about boots, tricycles and nipples.
False Heads are less of a breath of life, and more of a kick of life. The trio are set to release more new music ahead of a summer of festival dates.
They’re already armed with their successful Gutter Press EP and the Deep Cuts favourite Twentynothing, and the East London outfit are heading to Sound City this weekend to rip out the very membrane of Baltic Market.

A sound that has elements of Hard-Fi and Arctic Monkeys, they have a street sound that has the legs to travel into any estate across the country.
There’s also sounds of more recent Cribs stuff, unpredictable in structure and dynamically jolting.
Their next music is still in demo territory, but it has a rawness and bite that differentiates from a standard guitar materials, there’s evidence of experiment that allows for a little excitement to bubble up ahead of the release.

1. Where are you and what are you doing?
Currently in a work yard wearing boots that are too big for me, sweating and praying for death.
2. What is your favourite film?
Fight Club or Dead Poets Society.
3. What makes you frustrated?
When people don’t realise how incredibly sexy Jen Otter Bickerdike is or people who consume their news and personalities from social media.
4. Recommend one band or album that you think we should check out?
Band – Calva Louise
5. What’s your first memory?
Falling into a swimming pool off a tricycle.
6. What would be your final meal if you were on deathrow?
I’d request to eat the person executing me.
7. What was the first gig you went to?
Muse at Reading Festival.
8. Where did you last go on holiday?
Rome.
9. Tell us a secret…
Jake has no nipples.
10. Vinyl, CD, MP3 or Streaming?
They honestly all have merit. Vinyl is just stunning to have and ultimately it’s how a fully packaged record deserves to be held/seen/listened but streaming is convenient and I’ve found lots of new music that way. And CD is in the middle.
11. What’s your favourite season and why?
Festival season for obvious reasons but winter season because I like long coats and Jakes scarves are a wonder of humanity.
12. Do you have any pre-gig superstitions?
Nah, don’t believe in any of that nonsense.
