You cannot be serious, it’s Wimbledon week already, and Liverpool has another set of juicy live dates for Getintothis‘ David Hall to lead you through.
It’s one of the busiest weeks in ages on the Merseyside live scene, with big names aplenty, underground heroes and festivals wrapping up this week.
This multi-cultural city of ours is undergoing radical and fundamental social changes right now.
You can’t have failed to notice the amount of charity fundraisers being staged in the city over the past few weeks and months. It’s not only homelessness on the radar, but the fight against gentrification and venue closure has also raged recently, most notably in Kitchen Street.
This week is no exception, with the community coming together once again to do their part in combating the problem homelessness in the city region. Integration and working together is clearly something that the people of Liverpool famously accomplished at, and it’s heartening to see the grassroots activism going on, this week and most week.
We didn’t cause this problem, but we can try to fix it; what an attitude.

It’s no overstatement to say that hip-hop superstar Nas is one of the legends of the genre, with his debut The Illmatic widely regarded as not only one of the greatest records of the 90s but of all time.

The Detroit garage rock trio originally formed in 1986, splitting up after six years together.
They have now reformed and bound from a Bristol Psych Fest headline slot straight into a UK tour and hit Liverpool’s Magnet with support from OHMNS, Mincemeat and Carl Combover.
RongoRongo at Ten Years of Getintothis
Rongorongo: Drop the Dumbulls Gallery, Thursday July 13
Post-punk noir-poppers Rongorongo headline an entirely local lineup at dockside venue Drop the Dumbulls, featuring support from unique industrial two-piece God On My Right, plus dark-wave electro goths Double Echo and trip-hop soundscapers Venusian.

The frequently on-hiatus pop-punk mainstays hit Merseyside while currently fronted by Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba while nasal founder member Tom DeLonge is off hunting aliens or whatever the fuck.
Support comes from everyone’s favourite troubadour Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls.

House For the Homeless Album Launch: District, Saturday July 15
Headlining this charity fundraiser is Berlin’s Daniel Steingberg playing his unique brand of house and techno, plus Kristin Velvet, and also Dutch minimal techno wunderkind Odette on the bill, with all three making their Liverpool debut.
Local cats Rosencrantz, Kenny Muir, Gemma Muir, Rhyce Tyrell and Paddy Hooley will also lay down sets, and all profits both on the night and from House For the Homeless album sales will go directly to established homeless charity Crisis.

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival Unison Family Day: Sefton Park Palm House, Sunday July 16
Alsarah and the Nubatones headline the LAAF closing event led by Sudanese-born, Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Alsarah, who has been dubbed ‘the new star of Nubian pop’.
Also appearing are London Syrian Ensemble, debuting at LAAF this year – a collective of some of Syria’s finest musicians based in the UK – plus Reham Al-Hakimi, and Al Awadhel Band.

Too Many T’s: 24 Kitchen Street, Saturday October 14
UK hip-hop duo Too Many T’s have announced a UK tour to coincide with their debut album release this autumn, having built up a strong enough fan base to support the likes of Snoop Dogg, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul and Public Enemy.
Off the back of their brand new single God Save the T’s, the south London duo have nailed on a 24 Kitchen Street show to look forward to later this year.
