Long Island brothers set to release the second single from Songs For The General Public, as Getintothis’ Will Truby reports.
Pysch pop duo The Lemon Twigs have released the second single off their new album. Moon celebrates the bombastic glory of eighties pop and rock, recalling Bruce Springsteen through a dynamic sax part, and fellow Long Islander Billy Joel.
Working entirely on tape, Songs For The General Public was written, recorded and produced by brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario.
As well as recording at the legendary Electric Lady studio in New York, the pair worked at Sonora Studios in LA and at their home studio also in Los Angeles.
Released on 27 May, Moon follows lead single The One, an invigorating banger about surrendering to loneliness.
Keeping up with the band’s track record of releasing an album every two years or less, Songs For The General Public seeks to continue the duo’s success streak.
Debut album Do Hollywood, took influence from rock music from across all ages, and sophomore Go To School, was a bold 15-track coming of age LP, both received excellent reviews across the board.
The pair of brothers, aged only 22 and 20 respectively, founded the band while they were studying at high school. Though they perform live with touring members, both Brian and Michael are multi-instrumentalists and swap lead vocal duties.
Deep Cuts #39 – Husband Material, Aviator, Roswell Project, Kuiama, Dixie Daye
The Lemon Twigs have found fans in a diverse list of music A-listers, such as Elton John, Boy George, and Gerard Way.
Songs For The General Public will be released on August 21st on 4AD. The 12 track will be available on red translucent vinyl from independent record stores, and an exclusive signed print will be given to the first 100 purchases through 4AD.
