P J Harvey’s wall-to-wall re-release programme will serve up optimum quality editions and rare demos, Getintothis’ Graham Fandango reports.
PJ Harvey is about to receive a full digital and vinyl re-release of her entire back catalogue, as well as her two collaborations with John Parish.
Beginning on July 24 with her first album, Dry, UMC/Island and Beggar’s Banquet records are due to release not only said debut, but a full suite of 11 demo tracks for the album.
Previously released almost 30 years ago back in 1992, the demos promise a glimpse of an even more raw and nascent sound from a classic debut.
The album proper is a 180g vinyl pressing which features a brand new remaster by original producer, Howard “Head” Bullivant.
The vinyl release for the demo set boasts new artwork and previously unseen photography from
Maria Mochnacz, a longtime collaborator who provided the iconic image on the cover of Rid Of Me, as well as a 180g vinyl pressing.
Both vinyl sets include a digital download, and ahead of release, the label has made the demo version of Harvey’s seminal Sheela-Na-Gig available to stream right now, see below.
Following on from these two initial releases, we can look forward to new vinyl pressings of her subsequent albums and projects.
While there are currently no set release dates, the planned reissues are:
Dry (1992)
Rid Of Me (1993)
To Bring You My Love (1995)
Is This Desire? (1998)
