IDLES are back with a new single ahead of their upcoming third long player, Getintothis’ Steven Doherty has all the latest from Bristol’s finest.
IDLES have surprise-released a new single, Mr.Motivator, ahead of their new album, which is scheduled for later this year.
They had previously announced on social media that they were going to host some sort of ‘keep-fit session’ on YouTube led by bassist Dev, but this in fact turned out to be the premiere of the singles’ video.
The self-directed video, which is made up of exercise regimes from both the band and members of their massive online community, the AF Gang, racked up over 10,000 views in just 45 minutes.
The single, which is available to stream and download now, is a feisty beast, taking well known cliches and a roll call of famous names before turning them into the bands usual manic ball of positivity.
Frontman Joe Talbot says of the track, “We want to start this journey with a means to not only encapsulate the album’s sentiment, but to encourage our audience to dance like no one is watching and plough through these dark times with a two tonne machete of a song and the most beautiful community of scumbags ever assembled. Let’s go. All is love.”
