The Mono LPs team up with Elvis Costello as part of the Artists4NHS scheme, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley on the hook up.
Liverpool band The Mono LPs have uploaded a track with the legendary Elvis Costello.
The track was recorded for the Artists4NHS project which has been set up to support the health service during the coronavirus pandemic.
The song (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding was born out of a performance by Costello streamed on YouTube.
“We saw Elvis Costello’s Artists4NHS YouTube video of him performing solo in his house during lockdown. He was isolated and separated from his family in Vancouver.” said Vicky from the band.
“We thought he looked lonely so we wrote and recorded some cello parts, backing harmonies and a keyboard part to create a virtual backing band from our home in Liverpool to fit with his performance. We then made the video in our living room.”
The video has since gained huge traction and has been shared by the man himself.
“We Tweeted the video to Elvis and, immediately, Artists4NHS messaged us to say they loved the video and wanted us to ring them.”
Artists4NHS is run by Elvis Costello‘s brother, Ronan, and has been set up to raise awareness and funds for the NHS during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Costello recently returned to Liverpool for the first time in 4 years, playing at the Eventim Olympia back in February.
