Liverpool Disco Festival take their good times online as a result of the coronavirus lockdown and Getintothis’ Banjo prepares to get down with his bad self.
Bank Holiday weekends are something to be celebrated, especially when the sun is shining.
Add in more good disco music than you can shake a bottle of hand sanitiser at and, ordinarily you would have a winning combination, as fans of the Liverpool Disco Festival can tell you.
However, we are not in the midst of ordinary times at present.
The COVID-19 lockdown is affecting all walks of life, but the arts is being particularly badly hit.
Scores of people working from home are having to adapt to new ways of getting things done and staying in touch with each other and musicians are also having to find new ways to work, to get paid and to be heard.
At a time when tours and festivals are being cancelled in their dozens, Liverpool Disco Festival have decided that the show must go on.
While the main event, due to take place at Camp & Furnace this weekend has been rescheduled to October 31, this weekend’s festivities will be moved online and will be streamed worldwide on Easter Sunday.
Running from 12.00 noon to 12.00 midnight, the lineup includes John Morales, DJ Rahaan, Marcel Vogel and Darryl Marsden.

Liverpool Disco Festival organisers said: “So… Easter Sunday may not be going ahead in the way we had planned but we can still have a party! In fact, even more of you can join us as we stream Worldwide with an esteemed selection of DJ’s and friends from across the globe.
The current climate may be disconcerting for many of us, but if there’s one thing we all know it’s that music can be the glue that holds us together and lifts our spirits; the universal language we can all understand. United on the dance floor we may not be, but united in our living rooms we will be!”
During the stream, organisers will be raising money for The Whitechapel Centre, the homeless and housing charity for the Liverpool region.
The event will be broadcast via LDF & Friends Facebook Pages, Instagram and Twitch. To join in via Twitch, visit www.twitch.tv/liverpooldiscofestival4u.
The Liverpool Disco Festival organisers sign off with some fine words of wisdom for the bank holiday weekend – stay home and stay safe.
