Some rare good news for the 2020 festival season has arrived in FOCUS Wales confirming a rescheduled October date, and Getintothis’ Nathan Scally has the details.

COVID-19 has made its way across the globe, and it’s changed the way we live for the foreseeable future. But FOCUS Wales has provided some much needed light at the end of the tunnel by announcing the 10th anniversary edition will take place October 7-10.

Of course the pandemic is an ongoing issue that will no doubt change even more before it gets better, but this is some much needed positivity and something to look forward to later on in the year.

The International Showcase Festival also has the pleasure of re-announcing packed lineup featuring many of the original acts. Among those performing in Wrexham will be; Richard Hawley, Gruff Rhys, The Twilight Sad, Tim Burgess and The Joy Formiddable, with so much more to whet your appetite.

Again, FOCUS Wales is the place to be for artists you’ve known and loved for years, but also some of the hottest creators making waves in their respective scenes. Across the 20 stages, you’ll also find Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, The Membranes and Chroma. 2019’s ‘Best Festival for Emerging Talent’ winner at the UK Festival Awards is not to be sniffed at.

The 2020 edition comes again complete with the FOCUS Wales Conference, with a packed programme of industry panels and discussions, featuring experts from all sectors of the industry bringing unique insight to every conversation. They’ll cover a wide range of topics over the weekend.

Festival organisers have also reassured their commitment to the health and well-being of all staff and visitors, carrying out all the recommended and necessary hygiene and safety measures on site and in the lead up to the weekend.

The situation surrounding COVID-19 is like nothing we’ve ever seen before, and to help as much as possible, FOCUS Wales 2020 has made sure to be as transparent as possible regarding their operation, promising safety to all in attendance.

In line with the not-for-profit festival’s values, they’ve also played a huge part in promoting Help Musicians‘ Coronavirus Financial Hardship Fund. Granting eligible artists a £500 grant to alleviate the financial pressure so many will be facing.

And for anyone unsure of what’s happening, you can visit their dedicated Coronavirus page for all the latest updates regarding the festival and the industry, and follow their socials for information in real time.

There’s a world of music and knowledge to be discovered in Wrexham this October, so make sure you’re one of the lucky ones by securing your ticket soon.
