Announcing their latest record Strange to Explain, Getintothis’ Matthew Wood find the Brooklyn outfit in fine form once again.
Arguably one of the most prolific bands around, Woods have an outstanding repertoire that they can’t help but keep embellishing with their next record.
They take their influence from just about any genre and swirling it liberally into their original concoctions of psychedelic folk rock.
Having occupied the helm of the Woods ship for 15 years, Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere have honed their songwriting talents over ten albums.
Strange to Explain sees them flourish with new blends of sounds and new approaches, informed by new homes and newfound parenthood.
Lead single, Where Do You Go When You Dream is as beautiful composition, delightfully mellow and competing with the likes of Real Estate and Whitney in their class of sun-kissed folk.
It’s not going to fade out after 3 minutes either.
Woods make sure we’ve plenty to keep us ticking over until March 22 when the album arrives, offering up six glorious minutes of hazy melodies and intoxicating licks, a real ripe peach of a track.
