As yet another week draws to a close, Getintothis’ Max Richardson rounds up the top stories and gigs here on the site.
Well here we are once again, that’s another week over and done with – and it’s the weekend!
As ever, we’ve been treated to some top offerings of new releases and live performances this week.
The new pair of tracks from Biffy Clyro – Instant History and End Of, are sounding excellent as is to be expected from the Scottish three-piece, and mark the beginning of singles from new album A Celebration Of Endings to be released in May.
The real ear-worm that this writer has been struggling with this week is the latest single from Lady GaGa, Stupid Love.
Stupid Love is one of those insufferably catchy tracks which boasts gorgeous production alongside a well thought out song structure. It’s a cracking listen if you’ve not already caught it, but beware; once heard it’s not easily forgotten.
Elsewhere this week, this writer has been revisiting an old favourite – The Beatles’ collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, Love.
For those who aren’t aware, Love is a compilation of many of The Beatles’ biggest hits and best known tracks, which have been mixed into a continuous album and remixed by George Martin and son Giles Martin.
Liverpool Arts Diary: Comic Con, La Dolce Vita, street poetry – March 2020
The tracks incorporate many of the recognisable elements of other tracks not found on the album, for example the string rise from A Day In The Life can be heard as part of Get Back.
If you’re into your Beatles music, it’s a truly interesting listen – and shines a new light on the works of the group in such a playful and exploratory way.
Have you been listening to anything interesting this week? We’d love to hear it if so, please do feel free to let us know in the comments.
