Getintothis is proud to team up with Joey King to present Different Eyes Day in April, Lewis Ridley has the details.

A charity gig in aid of the National Autistic Society will be hosted at Phase One next month, including live music and spoken word performances.

Different Eyes Day is the project of Liverpool student Joey King, who will himself perform amongst others including Eli Smart and Cal Ruddy on Saturday, 4 April.

On the event, Joey says: “All artists performing either have autism themselves or have experience of it in their lives. Different Eyes Day is a new way of bringing the autism community together, to share their music, their stories, and their experiences of seeing the world through different eyes.”

The money made from the gig will be split, with half of it being donated to the National Autistic Society and the other half being divided between the performers.

Joey King’s sound is one that encapsulates seeing the world through a different set of eyes. Taking inspiration from Queen and David Bowie among others, his memorable melodic hooks are combined with quirky lyrics coming from his Asperger’s Syndrome.

If ever you’ve wondered why some aspects of life seem so easy to others but can really get you down, in Joey King’s words you may just find something you can relate to. He’s set to release his first single later this year.
