Isobel Campbell shares her new single, Hey World, and accompanying video. Getintothis’ Emilie Clark discusses the news.
Isobel Campbell has shared her new single, Hey World, which will feature on her new album There Is No Other, released in February.
There Is No Other will be her first solo album in 14 years, after the release of Milkwhite Sheets in 2006.
The new music stays in keeping with her definitive sound – ethereal and dreamy, yet upbeat, pop.
Campbell remarks, “Hey World is my rallying call to get it together and focus on what really matters. Sometimes contrast and difficulty shows up for betterment and to help us grow.”
Isobel Campbell began her music career as part of the band, Belle & Sebastian, before moving on to try her hand at a solo career, first under the pseudonym The Gentle Waves, and later with her own name.
As well as being part of Belle & Sebastian, she has collaborated with Mark Lanegan and Bill Wells.

Director Mike Aho says of the video, “As with most creative projects it took on a life of its own and evolved as it went along… but I think there is something strangely beautiful about how it interacts with the song.”
