Focus Wales celebrates its tenth birthday in 2020 and has announced its second wave of artists, as Getintothis’ Jane Davies reveals.
Focus Wales has announced its second wave of confirmed artists.
Gruff Rhys, Flamingods, Catrin Finch and Sekou Keita, The Breath and JOHN will now be joined by the Grammy nominated Altın Gun, Stealing Sheep and Welsh Music Prize nominees HMS Morris, who return to FOCUS Wales in 2020, having just completed a tour and residency in Japan this autumn.
Post-punk rockers The Membranes make a come-back, as well as a debut festival show for the UK’s new buzz band Chinatown Slalom, following Radio 1 plays and recent features in Pitchfork and NME.
Getintothis’ Deep Cuts Festival favourites Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard will also be appearing at the festival along with Liverpool’s Natalie McCool.
The Wrexham festival, billed as Wales’ showcase for music will welcome over 250 + acts from across the UK, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Korea and The Netherlands from May 7 to 9.
In addition to the music festival, FOCUS is Wales’ biggest music industry event, with three days of panels, keynote talks, and industry advice.
The festival will see over 400 music industry professionals descend upon Wrexham from around the world. Latest speakers announced include: Jason Mayall (Fuji Rocks Festival, Japan), Fanny Lambotte (Those Damned Artists), John Fisher (Old Blue Last, London), Marie Moreno (Miles Agency, France), and Rob McGee (Empire Agency).
