A brand new bar has opened on the outskirts of Birmingham, Getintothis’ Emilie Clark takes a look at what it has to offer.
Once only seen as a run-down, industrial space, Digbeth has been on the up in recent years; and with new openings like Dead Wax – it just keeps getting better and better.
Dead Wax Digbeth, will follow in the footsteps of the original Dead Wax Social founded in Brighton by the Laine Brew Co.
Located on Adderley Street, Dead Wax has moved into the building that was home to old metal, punk and alternative spot, Wagon and Horses.
Music lies at the heart of Dead Wax. As well as putting on live music events, the music played inside the bar is exclusively vinyl, selected from their library of 4000 records. Visitors are being encouraged to get involved by either selecting the soundtrack from this collection or bringing their own favourites from home.
The bar launched last weekend, hosted free events at the weekend as they welcomed in punters to look around the new venue.
Value of UK music industry hits all time high as over £5 billion injected into UK economy
The events featured DJ sets from the likes of RISCAS, The Night Owl’s Mazzy Snape and Cheap Thrills; while also hosting a whole load of live music from local artists including The Good Water and Swampmeat Family Band.
Whether it’s 12 inches of vinyl or 12 inches of dough you’re after, they’ve got you covered as they will also be serving stone-baked pizza to cater for all diets, with Laine Brew Co. and Beavertown craft beer to wash it down with.
Dead Wax Digbeth is a bar focusing all its efforts on music, beer and pizza, what’s not to love?
