IDLES, the nation’s sweethearts, have documented their year long world tour on a new live album, Getintothis’ Steven Doherty excitedly tells us more.
IDLES have announced details of a new live album A Beautiful Thing: IDLES Live At Le Bataclan, which is to be released on December 6.
Perfectly encapsulating the unadulterated joy of their live sets for the last 16 months, most of which they have spent on a seemingly continuous tour of the planet, the record was captured last year just before their Xmas break.
It was recorded on their last European date in Paris on December 3 2018, and contains material from both their Top 5 breakthrough second album Joy As An Act Of Resistance and debut Brutalism.
And it’s a cut from Brutalism, early single Mother, that is the lead track from the album.
Their live shows which have become their calling card, especially in 2019, as they have played pretty much every festival possible as well as two totally sold-out UK tours.
And speaking of which, they’ve got another one coming up around the album’s release date before disappearing to finish album number three.
They have a North West date on December 4 at Manchester Academy, and they wrap up their 2019 live story with their biggest headline gig so far at the enormous London Alexandra Palace on December 7.

They have been the underground to over-ground success story of the year, winning an Ivor Novello award, nominated for a BRIT Award before missing out on the Mercury Music Prize.
New material appeared back in August with the release of double A-Side 7-inch, Mercedes Marxist/I Dream Guillotine, both of which were from the J.A.A.A.O.R sessions.
Speaking about A Beautiful Thing, vocalist Joe Talbot says:“Our show at Bataclan was the end of a very long journey for us. That show was nothing short of catharsis and nothing more than love. We are so very grateful that the moment was captured in all it’s glory, love and fatigue.
Long live the open-minded and long live the moment.”
The album comes out on vinyl with a choice of three different coloured vinyl, each complete with a photo booklet and its own individual artwork, as well as a standard CD release.
