Michael Head and The Red Elastic Band announce new album as brother John Head adds big gig news, Getintothis’ Kevin Barrett has scoop.
Michael Head has announced details of a new album New Brighton Rock.
The celebrated Liverpool songwriter revealed news of his new album via his Twitter feed by posting a photo of the track list and title.
New Brighton Rock will be the second release for Michael Head and The Red Elastic Band following 2017’s much loved Adios Señor Pussycat.
The details were handwritten on a paper plate, this seemingly the preferred method of breaking news from Head lately.
Recent posts have seen him rehearsing and recording with TREB members including brothers Phil and Danny Murphy and Peach Fuzz front man Nathaniel Cummings.
Cummings and the Murphy brothers have frequently joined Head on stage most recently during his last outing at Grand Central.
Joining the newly assembled Mick Head team is Bill Ryder-Jones, whose Yawn Studio in West Kirby has been used for the recording with the former Shack man referring to his latest producer as ‘Bill’s the don’ in social posts.
No details have been announced as of yet on dates for release, although this will excite Head‘s vast army of acolytes immensely.

In what’s been a busy week for the Head family, brother and former Pale Fountains and Shack guitarist John Head also brought us big news of his second gig in the city following his extended live performing hiatus.
The six-year break was brought to a halt in April this year with two hugely successful nights at Parr Street’s Studio 2.
John followed up his Liverpool dates with his first London gig in six years by selling out The Social inside 24 hours in August.
The singer-songwriter is this time providing a pre-Christmas offering in the shape of a gig in one of Liverpool’s finest venues, the stunning surrounds of St Georges Hall’s grand Concert Room on December 6.

Head will be supported on the night by Liverpool’s leading poetic storyteller Roy in what will sure to be a festive treat.
Tickets for the John Head gig are on sale Saturday September 14 at 9am, and expected to sell out immediately.
