Hobo Johnson and The LoveMarkers have an announced a Liverpool show on their forthcoming UK tour and Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has the details.
Following his recent performance at the Reading and Leeds festivals, Sacramento, CA alternative hip-hop artist, Hobo Johnson and his band, The LoveMakers, have announced a UK tour for December, which includes a Liverpool date at the Eventim Olympia. .
Johnson (real name, Frank Lopes Jr) will be touring on the back of his new album, The Fall of Hobo Johnson, which is set for release on September 13.
The album follows 2017’s The Rise of Hobo Johnson – an album which was written whilst Johnson was living out of his ’94 Toyota Corolla (his debut album is also entitled Hobo Johnson’s 94 Corolla).
Last year, Johnson‘s lead single from The Fall of Hobo Johnson, Peach Scone, racked up over fourteen and half million views on both Facebook and YouTube, which saw his social media following go from 10,000 to well over one million followers.
Produced by Johnson himself, Peace Scone feels like a hip-hop/spoken word answer to Jeffrey Lewis. It’s an acquired taste but blurs the lines between spoken word humour and hip-hop. It’s different and it works.
