Silent K, Ali Horn, Paris Youth Foundation and more are set to play a free gig to launch Sound City, Getintothis’ Peter Goodbody has the details.
Zutons lead singer Dave McCabe will help to launch this year’s Sound City music festival with a special performance at Queen Avenue (just off Castle Street) in Liverpool’s business district.
His new ensemble Silent K will perform alongside several up-and-coming acts in the picturesque Victorian arcade on Friday May 3, following the annual Sound City+ music industry conference and prior to the start of the two-day Sound City music festival.
This is only the second time (of which we’re aware) the location has been used to host a gig. It follows the “surprise” appearance of OMD on the outdoor stage at last year’s Light Night.
Bruntwood are hosting this special performance in the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district and are once again a principal sponsor of Sound City+, the UK’s leading independent conference for new music.

Other acts performing on the night include Liverpool favourites Ali Horn, Paris Youth Foundation, Katy Alex, SPQR and Monks.
Tickets for the gig are free, but you will need to register first with Eventbrite.
Doors are at 5pm.
