Heavenly Recordings are heading north this summer for a weekend of music from their roster of acts, Getintothis’ Michael Maloney with all the details.
Heavenly Recordings will rock up to Leeds’ Brudenell Club on Friday June 14 for two days of live music and DJ sets.
Among the acts set to perform over the two days are Baxter Dury, Boy Azooga and Liverpool’s Stealing Sheep.
This year’s Heavenly Weekender takes place in a new venue with previous years’ Weekenders taking place at Hebden Bridge’s fantastic Trades Club but worry not as the Brudenell Club carries its own reputation as one of the best small venues in the country that consistently punches above its weight with its bookings.
The weekender kicks-off on Friday 14 June with Australian singer-songwriter Hatchie, who will be previewing material from her debut, Keepsake, which is released the week following the weekender.
Hatchie is joined on Friday evening by Confidence Man who’ll be bringing their all guns blazing live show before the Heavenly Jukebox DJs finish off the first night.
Saturday’s proceedings will begin early at midday to ensure that each act on the jam pack line-up can squeeze out as much from their sets as possible.
Audiobooks open the day before Baxter Dury takes to the stage for a solo set which will no doubt go down a treat. Boy Azooga return with their bag full of indie bangers after performing at SXSW earlier in the year while Gwenno will treat the audience with songs from her critically acclaimed album, Le Kov.
H. Hawkline will make his first appearance at a Heavenly Weekender, after supporting Aldous Harding expect thoughtful lyrics and pop hooks.
Stealing Sheep will perform tracks from their latest album, Big Wows, and Working Mens’ Club whose year has gone from strength to strength since releasing their debut single will end the day’s live music before The Orielles take to the decks providing floor-fillers to keep people partying into the early hours.
“Our parties are all about avoiding the squares. We supply the music, you come along with your head on straight and get involved” explains Heavenly Recordings‘ founder, Jeff Barrett.
“Expect a good time, simple as that. Dance like a loon, make new friends, and take something away with you that you’ll keep forever.”
It’s hard to argue with that. The full line-up is as follows:
