Salford festival Sounds From The Other City announce details of this year’s event, Getintothis‘ Steven Doherty has all the news.
Sounds From The Other City have announced their first wave of acts for the Salford all-dayer.
Celebrating its quindecennial (that’s 15th anniversary to you and me), it takes place at the city’s Regent Trading Estate on May 5.
Having sold out for the last six years running, the capacity for this year is limited to 1,500 (due to a temporary change of venue), so you need to be quick to the party if you want to get involved, with half the tickets are already gone.
This year they’ve asked 15 of their favourite promoters to pick their best two acts, who will be appearing over 5 stages on the day.
The promoters include local big-hitters Now Wave and Hey! Manchester, and a special link up with Bluedot, so a quality bill is guaranteed.
Speaking of the bill, the recently announced highlights include the much vaunted South London noiseniks Black Midi and indie-pop royalty The Orielles.
Bristol noise-rockers Spectres, Edinburgh DIY folk-rock troubadour Withered Hand, laid back rapper Barney Artist and the blissed-out groovesters Ménage A Trois are also part of the big day out.
Even the BBC Philharmonic are involved, collaborating with Young Identity, a Manchester based collective of young spoken word artists.
Also featuring on the line up are Black Futures, Cocaine Piss, ILL, Rose Mercie, Sneaks, Woven Skull and many more.
After the bands, there’ll be an array of after-show parties, the biggest of which sees the SFOTC take over all 4 floors of Manchester venue Yes.
