As we say goodbye to February and welcome March, the gigs aren’t letting up, as Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has the details.
So, it appears that you all survived the Brit Awards! Well done. Who actually won? No, seriously? Rocks are good to hide under where events like these are concerned. It’s even better when you have a nice warm blanket.
Fair play if you like this sort of thing, though. It just feels worlds apart from what music is actually all about. The grass roots community where we look out for each another, as opposed to some insidious industry back-slapping ego-stroking exercise.
Anyway, enough of all that. It’s Sunday and you just want to have a nice cup of tea and digest this week’s gig guide. Granted, there have been busier weeks, however – as always – there’s still plenty to sink your claws into.
There’s up and coming talent visiting our city. There’s local artists also dabbling in all things of the sonic variety. And, of course, there’s always that bigger fish swimming in the pond which in this case is those irrepressible potty-mouthed rascals, the Sleaford Mods,who are in town on the back of their brilliant new album, Eton Alive.
So there we have it. All gigs, big and small. Choose your poison and get out of the house for some fresh air.

Polo: Sound Food and Drink, Tuesday, February 26
Leeds outfit, Polo, are stopping off at Sound Food and Drink as a part of their UK tour.
The r’n’b pop outfit are touring on the back of their debut EP, Alice, which was released in March 2017. Expect some new music from this band in 2019.

Dan Wilson and the Counterfactuals: Studio2 Parr Street, Thursday February 28
Dan Wilson and The Counterfactuals launch their new album at Studio2 Parr Street on Thursday night.
Wilson‘s new album, entitled Victims, is released via FOLC Records, on March 1 and will no doubt contain a slew of finely crafted numbers. Intimate gig of the week right here, folks.
Fatherson
Fatherson: Jacaranda Phase One, Friday March 1
Scotland’s Fatherson return to Liverpool on the back of their shiny new long-player, Sum Of All Your Parts – the band’s third album and their follow-up to 2016’s Open Book.
Jac’ Phase One is shaping up as the perfect backdrop for this so do yourself a favour and get involved.
The Shipbuilders

There’s a big night planned at the Shipping Forecast with all of your psych and rock covered for the night.
“Gypsy surf-rockers”, The Shipbuilders, front the night with support from The Gear and up and coming talents, COW, who are fresh off their performance from our recent Deep Cuts event.

Kick. Out #11 The Starlight Magic Hour, The Floormen, Lemonade Fix, Faniel Dord, Cosmic Shepherd DJ set: The Jacaranda Club, Friday March 1
Kick.Out continue their residency at the Jacaranda Club with their eleventh instalment of local acts.
The Starlight Magic Hour headline the night, along with psych rockers, The Floormen, the impressive Lemonade Fix and Faniel Dord. Even the DJ set looks impressive – it has to be with a name like Cosmic Shepherd, right…?

Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn return to the city for the first time since their Key Markets tour and with good reason. Sleaford Mods have a brand spanking new long-player, Eton Alive, fresh on record store shelves and ready for audible consumption.
Easily the gig of the week, this is a steam train everyone needs to be aboard of. Most vital band in Britain? A steadfast affirmative.

Perth outfit, An Orange Conspiracy, culminate their tour with a show at EBGBs, in support of their fine debut EP, AOC, which was released in November last year.
Renown for their blistering live performances of slow build-ups and melting riffs, this is one for all you blues-psych rockers out there.
