A brand new conference championing the North West’s electronic music scene is coming to Liverpool and Getintothis’ Lucy McLachlan has the details on how you can bag some tickets.
The inaugural electronic industry event LINK: The Electronic Sound Summit is coming to city centre venues on Saturday February 2.
The fine folks over at the Liverpool Audio Network have set up the annual event to bring together some of the best minds of the industry with speakers including Techno artist and producer Mella Dee, DITTO music and former NME journalist and ex-Liverpool Vision creative and digital investment manager Kevin McManus.
Inspired by global electronic music conference and largest club festival in the world, the Amsterdam Dance Event and “The Premier Platform for Thought and Leadership in Electronic Music” the International Music Summit. LINK is giving industry professionals a chance to connect, learn and grow in the music industry by hosting equipment exhibitions, production masterclasses, industry panels, music business lectures and speed mentoring with industry experts.
LAN co-founder Daniel Fisher-Jones said of the upcoming event, “Within Liverpool, we have a fantastic community of innovators and creators within Electronic Music who, with a helping hand of a support network and events such as LINK will enable them to break any creative isolation they have and to progress even further in their careers.”
The official program runs from 10am to 7pm on February 2 across a number of venues including Studio2 Parr St and Jacaranda Phase One with a line-up covering a range of genres, topics and industry roles.
The program comes in 5 sections:
1- LINK: Production at Studio2. Get production masterclasses from Mella Dee, Futurebound, Paul Nolan and more covering topics such as mixing records, creative approaches and sound design.
2- LINK: Business at The Brink. Featuring music business lectures, with speakers from Armada Music and DITTO music covering topics such as how to get signed, how to market your music, and understanding your legal rights.
3- LINK: Industry at Jacaranda Phase One. With panels covering mental health in music, the state of our independent venues, and how to self-release. Panelists announced so far include Kev McManus, head of Liverpool’s UNESCO City of Music strategy; our own editor in chief Peter Guy and Becky Wild, one of the creative directors of the Constellations and Hinterlands venues.
4- LINK: Mentors at Alma De Cuba. Take part in industry speed dating, a chance to gain the insight and expertise of experts from across the industry, including lawyers, accountants, and world-renowned artists.
5- LINK: Encounter at Alma De Cuba. An opportunity to check out industry brands and hardware manufacturers. Get hands-on with new equipment and connect with different brands.
