Japanese psych-rockers Kikagaku Moyo are touring and Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has news of a Liverpool date.
Harvest Sun Promotions have made yet another coup by announcing that Tokyo-based psychedelic rockers, Kikagaku Moyo, will return to the U.K in May and this time they will be heading to Liverpool for a show at District.
Japanese for “geometric patterns”, Kikagaku Moyo take elements of Krautrock and acid folk, delivering their beautiful noise in crushing waves of riff-a-rolla.
Any fans of Acid Mothers Temple out there? If so, then chances are that Kikagaku Moyo may just be your saucer of rat poison.

Kikagaku Moyo was founded during the summer of 2012 by drummer/vocalist, Go Kurosawa, and guitarist/vocalist Tomo Katsurada. Joined by bassist, Kotsuguy, guitarist, Daoud Popal, sitarist, Ryu Kurosawa, and guest vocalist/theremin player Angie Gotopo, the group recorded its self-titled debut in 2013.
From there the band have gone from strength-to-strength, making another three records – most notably, last year’s brilliant Masana Temples, which featured in Getintothis’ Top 100 Albums of 2018 at a reputable number forty-seven.
Having previously played Austin Psych Fest and L.A. Psych Fest, as well as releasing shared split 7″ singles with Moon Duo and Kinski, respectively, suffice to say, this is a show that’s not to be missed.
Tickets on sale from today.
