There’s plenty to whet the palate in the lead-up to Christmas as Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has all the details with this week’s gigs.
That day is getting closer, people. However, we’re not there yet and before the Christmas period there’s the small matter of gigs that our fine venues have to offer in our fine city. After all, there’s no rest for the wicked.
Beat heads are in for a treat this week with 24 Kitchen Street ramping up their live program of progressive talent.
Those who wish to relive their youth, well, Razorlight are returning, hitting town and I can almost smell the booze from here. If that doesn’t take your fancy, then there’s plenty of softer leaning sounds for your audible pleasure. And let’s not forget our final Deep Cuts event of the year. It’s sure to be an auspicious occasion.

Molly Burch: Leaf, Wednesday December 5
Austin-based singer-songwriter, Molly Burch, is in town in support of her new album, First Flower.
She will be bringing her heart-wrenching brand of folk to the perfect surroundings of the Leaf. Angel Olsen fans, we know you’re out there – get yourself along to this show.

PAWS + Daddy Issues: Studio 2 Parr Street, Wednesday December 5
Glaswegian noise-pop trio, PAWS, are in town for what looks to be a raucous evening planned at Studio 2 Parr Street.
Joining PAWS will be Nashville collective, Daddy Issues, who are on tour in support of their latest album, Deep Dream.

Helena Hauff: 24 Kitchen Street, Thursday December 6
This show hasn’t been widely reported on, but here’s a tip. If you dig your Daniel Avery, then this is the place to be.
Hauff will be playing a three hour set with cuts from her new album Qualm. If you’re going to GAIKA this is well worth sticking around for.
Rongorongo
Deep Cuts #22 Christmas Carnage: Jacaranda Phase One, Thursday December 6
Our final Deep Cuts of the year, folks. As billed, it will be Christmas carnage, with dystopian misery from Prison Behaviour, and most notably the long-awaited return of local post-punk shapeshifters, Rongorongo.
Others on the line-up include Nolan Garrett, Claire Welles, Denio and Lonesaw. It’s sure to be a great night for all involved.
Malcolm Middleton
Malcolm Middleton: EBGB’s, Friday December 7
With his Arab Strap bandmate, Aidan Moffat, rolling through town last month, it’s Malcolm Middleton’s turn to bring his spellbinding demoralised dirges to Liverpool.
Middleton tours in support of his new long player, Bananas. It’s great and this show is sure to follow in the same vein.

The Orielles: The Invisible Wind Factory, Friday December 7
The Orielles are in the zone right now. With their debut album, Silver Dollar Moment, featuring in BBC 6 Music’s Albums of the Year, it’s turning out to be some year for the collective from Halifax.
This one will be big and for many, probably the gig of the year.
Miles Kane
Miles Kane: Mountford Hall, Saturday December 8
On the back of his latest album, Coupe de Grace, local boy did good, Miles Kane, will be bringing his indie-mod pastiche to the Mountford Hall.
Every week there’s a local love-in and this week, it’s no different. Miles Kane will be showered with infinite love and praise this Saturday night.
