Feis

After the success of its inaugural shindig at Pier Head, Feis Liverpool has announced a return for 2019, Getintothis’ Chris Flack has the news.

Feis Liverpool may have had a bumpy start in 2018, but Vince Power has again joined forces with Culture Liverpool to have another roll at the dice.

2018 saw an impressive line-up of some of Ireland’s finest talent and more than a few emerging acts playing over three stages, not that it went without a hitch.

In fact, to say there were difficulties across the day is an understatement. Two of the three stages saw huge delays, with stage times being cut short for a number of artists. As noted by a more sweary than usual Andy Cairns of Therapy?

Though as we learned the first time around, Van Morrison can time travel so not all was lost.  Maybe it’s the gold mic stand?

Perhaps the most surprising issue was that one of the bars ran dry midway through the day. Worse still, punters experienced some of the slowest services we’d ever seen at a festival.  This kind of shoddy service is unacceptable at an Irish festival, of all things.

Vince Power himself has taken to the airwaves to address the catering and bars issues from last year, and we can’t imagine anyone would argue with him.

But with a line-up that included Van Morrison, The Hothouse Flowers, Therapy? The Stunning, Damien Dempsey,  Imelda May, Sharon ShannonJack Lukeman and a host of others it was hard to complain. The sun even managed to shine all day.

The quality of the acts, layout, and atmosphere was impressive and it was obvious for most of us to see, that the Feis crew were working hard to curtail the problems.  Hopefully, 2019 will do away with all that.

For the 2019 Installment Power has announced a return visit by Shane Macgowan, we will also be treated to sets from The Undertones, The Dubliners, The Eskies, Mary Coughlan, The Fureys, Hudson Taylor, The Frank & Walters, and Derry noise merchants Touts.

2019’s event takes place on Saturday, July 6th down at Pier Head.
