Manchester’s premier indie band The Courteeners have announced a massive Heaton Park date for 2019, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley reports.
The Courteeners will play their biggest headline gig ever next summer in their own back yard, Heaton Park.
The lineup includes fellow Mancunians James, as well as DMA’S and Pale Waves completing a stellar lineup on Saturday, June 15.
The announcement follows online teases from Liam Fray on Sunday night (October 28), who shared what may be a snippet from an upcoming album, said to be their most adventurous yet. It will be their sixth studio album, their first of which they celebrated 10 years of last year with a new Re:Wired LP.
Their debut album, St Jude remains as iconic as ever for fans, and 2008 single Not Nineteen Forever was used to break the news earlier today (October 29).

The gig will double the capacity of their previous visit to the north Manchester venue, a stone’s throw away from where the band grew up, to 50,000 people. It will add to dates at Castlefield Bowl and Old Trafford Cricket Ground in previous years as another historic homecoming.
The Courteeners are on tour this winter and are joined by Gerry Cinnamon and Zuzu for a date at Echo Arena on Friday, November 30.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 2 at 9.30am.
