As singer, songwriter and footballer Chelcee Grimes plays her hometown this week, Getintothis’ Will Neville sees her star very much in ascendancy.
Aigburth-born Chelcee Grimes had a very good day last week, tweeting that she had been busily rehearsing for her upcoming gig in Liverpool, while seeing a song she wrote enter the US charts and hit the #1 spot around the globe.
Kiss and Make Up is recorded by Dua Lipa and Blackpink, the latter the first ever female K-pop group to enter the UK’s Official Singles Chart Top 40. Chelcee has had her songs recorded by a long list of stars, including Olly Murs, The Saturdays and even Kylie Minogue.
Her first single Just Like That was released in June, drawing comparisons to the likes of Mary J. Blige and Blu Cantrell. Follow-up I Need A Night Out came out last month, and she is now back on RCA Records after an unsuccessful spell back in 2012 when aged just nineteen.
