This summer is set to see the Wirral come into its own with an exciting lineup of new music events, Getintothis’ Cath Bore looks at what’s on over the water.
From Brooklyn to Birkenhead, BODEGA are playing a special matinee show on July 8 as part of the Get It Loud In Libraries series. The show will take place on a Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm and was 18 months in the planning.
Having triumphed at this year’s SXSW, the New York art-punk five piece’s debut album Endless Scroll is released on 6 July through What’s Your Rupture? Records. It was produced by Austin Brown (Parquet Courts).
The show at Birkenhead Library will be the first ever gig in the building. A quarter of the tickets were snapped up in the first week onsale, and BODEGA‘s Manchester and Birmingham dates have already sold out.

The event kickstarts a summer of tasty new and emerging music events on the peninsular.
The Wirral New Music Collective facilitates a number of shows by the likes of Eyesore and The Jinx, Beija Flo, SPQR and Bill Nickson, a night of contemporary classical music at Williamson Art Gallery and much more. And the Skeleton Coast Festival on 1 Sept features The Coral, Tim Burgess, The Fernweh and The Mysterines.
