Liverpool Calling reveal an impressive second wave of acts, Harvest Sun’s gig conveyor belt keeps rolling as Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley recovers from his Sound City blues to bring the latest music news.

Liverpool Calling has announced a second wave of acts for their June 22-23 weekender.

Topping the next set of additions are Geordie psych-rockers Demob Happy, East London noisemakers False Heads and Welsh indie rockers Himalayas, who recently supported Trampolene.

Plus, there’s a whole host of extraordinary Merseyside shakers such as Pale Rider, Psycho Comedy, and The Racket.

Elsewhere, Liverpool Calling will also host Soeur, SPILT, Three From Above, Nocturnal Coast, Polar States, Jo Mary, Eyesore and the Jinx and Dead Houses among others.

They join the already announced Pulled Apart By Horses, The Wytches, Will Varley, Sheafs, Strange Bones, Peaness, SPQR, and many others.

Stage splits are expected to be announced within the next few weeks, with the festival basing itself in Liverpool city centre and the Baltic Triangle over two days.

Organisers will be buoyed by the success of Sound City‘s move back into the city, and Liverpool Calling will use ConstellationsBrick Street and Baltic Social on Saturday June 23, as last weekend did. The latter venue will host an all day Alan Partridge screening for good measure.

For the first day of the festival, they’ll be based at The JacarandaEBGBs and Studio 2 Parr Street on Friday, June 22. The full line up is below.

Meanwhile, iconic Liverpool band The Stairs will play O2 Academy on Tuesday, September 11.

The band, famous for their hazy 90s haydays in Liverpool’s venues, are rarely seen live and this date, from EVOL, will be a unique chance to see one of the city’s most influential bands.

They’ll be supported by Zutons maverick Dave McCabe‘s new band Silent-K and rising Skeleton Key-signed band Peach Fuzz.

Philly pop outfit Suburban Living will play Shipping Forecast on Thursday, November 29 as part of a UK and European tour.

This week’s new tune comes from Birmingham band The Clause. Opening with a newsflash spoken word section, Tokyo rumbles into distortion unleashing impressive guitar riffs.

It’s the most aggressive effort from them so far, and shows a maturity as well as a confidence grown from their earlier releases. Listen to the track below.
