Positive Vibes Fest reveal massive new names as Iron Witch and a host of Merseyside new artists reveal exciting new happenings, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley has news on all fronts.
The legendary Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has been added to this year’s Positive Vibration lineup.
The Godfather of dub, who kickstarted the career of Bob Marley, will be backed by New York-based collective, Subatomic Sound System (Emch, Screechy Dan and Larry McDonald) for a special one-off UK performance.
One of the most engaging aspects of the festival, the Reggae Q&A, is a panel discussion which focuses on the impact of reggae on British music, culture & society, held in association with the Reggae Research Network.
This year͛’s panel will feature Brixton-based DJ and producer, Blacker Dread, prolific singer/songwriter and the Queen of Lovers Rock, Carroll Thompson and highly respected lecturer, poet and community activist, Dr William Lez͛ Henry.
The panel will be led by award-winning music journalist & punk musician, John Robb.

Wirral garage rock frenzy heads Jo Mary will present the first in their Sea Bass series of nights gathering new music heads together on Saturday April 2.
The Birkenhead rock and roll merchants will be joined by surf garage outfit Uncle Jane and solo guitar pop craftsman Bill Nickson as they present the first edition of another episodic music night in the city.
Leading the charge for their Eggy Records outlet, this is the first in a long line of events Jo Mary have planned.
Also joining at Sound on Duke Street are Samurai Kip and DJ Hog Roast.

Bristol psych pop outfit Cousin Kula are set to play Shipping Forecast as part of their UK tour.
Releasing their debut EP in December 2017, they’re now setting out to build on fanatic hometown support, taking their sound across the country including a date in Liverpool on Tuesday, April 24.
Iron Witch will play their only Liverpool show of 2018, a night of misery at Sound on Duke St.
The metal band released their latest offering in 2016, A Harrowed Dawn. They’ll be supported on Thursday, June 14 by Leeds’ Groak.
Finally, Welsh rockers Stereophonics will play Echo Arena on Wednesday, 30 May as they warm up for their stadium shows in Wrexham and Cardiff.
The Vryll Society
This weeks’ new tune comes from The Vryll Society, who have released details of their debut LP along with a brand new single.
The track, Andrei Rublev, sees the band go back to their roots with hip-hop drums, crunching bass lines and hypnotic guitar solos, hinting further at the themes and ideas likely to form the basis of their upcoming record, which will drop this summer.
