New York quartet Nels Cline 4 to play Invisible Wind Factory as Gazelle and Kalandra return to the stage, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley has the scoop on some very special happenings.
New York-based guitarist composers Nels Cline will bring his quartet to Invisible Wind Factory.
The gig will be an exploration of Nels‘ duo work with Julian Lage as well as the introduction of Jorge Roeder on bass and drummer Tom Rainey. It promises to be a stunningly spellbinding set with elements of improvisation and conversation.
The Nels Cline 4 will blow the North Docks venue away with guitar jazz on Sunday, April 22 which comes just days after the release of their debut, Currents, Constellations on April 13.

Rory Wynne has announced the release of his self-titled debut LP, which will be unleashed on Friday, April 11.
The album features eight brand new and previously unreleased tracks and was recorded in just two weeks in his Stockport studio.
Wynne has supported neighbouring rock n rollers Blossoms as well as Mossley lads Cabbage and will launch the album with a special show at Jimmy’s in Manchester.
Rory Wynne will be released on Blossoms‘ new label Very Clever Records.
“It’s all autobiographical, written from experience. For some reason, I always end seem to end up in long-distance relationships, so when I sit down to write that’s what I write about,” Rory told Manchester blog Even The Stars.
The show, on Thursday, April 10, will feature support from The Mysterines and sees a return to the stage, where Wynne says he feels most at home.
The album will drop at midnight at the launch and reveal a new dawn in his now snowballing career.

Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley is set to play 81 Renshaw. Hingley has performed across the country since the turn of the year and will call into the intimate venue on Friday, June 1.
The gig will no-doubt feature tracks from his career with Inspiral Carpets and also solo outings that have included collaboration with some of the many members of The Fall. He’ll be joined by his band The Kar-pets.
Rising Merseyside, LIMF-backed soul artist Gazelle will play 81 Renshaw on Saturday, August 4.
She performed the same venue back in September as part of Amnestry International’s Global Day of Secret Gigs.
She ditched her degree in a bid to make a break in music, residing in Paris surrounding herself in influences to make her music more and more vibrant.
She now features back in the intimate Liverpool venue to fill a room full of soul-jazz.
The gentle Nordic sounds of Kalandra return to Merseyside on Wednesday, May 9.
They’ll play at Studio 2 Parr Street and are set to draw a decent crowd as they did at Kazmier back in 2014.
Finally, Manchester four piece The Slow Readers Club have revealed the video for their atmospheric new single, You Opened Up My Heart, taken from their upcoming album Build A Tower, out May 4 on Modern Sky.
They’ll play Sound City on Saturday, May 5 as part of a UK tour to celebrate the release of the album. On the day of the release, they’ll play and already sold out Manchester Cathedral gig.
